In Waco, there are two clinics to serve your needs. To help determine which location will better serve your needs, please read the following:

Mary Ruth Duncan Women's Health Center - 1121 Ross Avenue  Medicaid and low income patients are  welcome. All patients will be qualified for services based on family size and income.  Reduced rates are available based on a sliding fee scale.  Please call for an appointment at 254-759-5750, option 1.

 Well-Woman Exam (an “annual”) Includes:

  • Pelvic Examination
  • Pap smear to check for cervical cancer
  • A breast exam (along with teaching how to do an exam on yourself)
  • Birth control, if desired 
  • Plan B (Emergency Contraception, also called EC or the morning-after pill), if desired

    May also include (as needed):

  • Screening and testing for sexually transmitted infections
  • Screening for urinary tract infections and diabetes
  • A pregnancy test

When a patient has an abnormal Pap smear, further diagnostic testing and minor treatment are also available (colposcopy, cervical biopsy and cryotherapy)

We also do mammogram referrals if needed and have funding for those who qualify thanks to the support of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Male Reproductive Services
We also provide reproductive health services to men. These services may include:

  • Physical sexual health exam
  • Testicular exams (along with teaching how to do a self exam)
  • Urine testing now available for Chlamydia and gonorrhea
  • Diagnosis of genital herpes and treatment for genital warts
  • Family planning education
  • Contraception (condoms)
  • For men over 18, Plan B (emergency contraception) is available for purchase

STD & Infection Tests and Treatment
In addition to the STD and infection tests we run at the Ross Ave. clinic, we have an in-house representative from the Waco McLennan County Public Health District who offers free HIV/AIDS and syphilis testing and counseling.

Birth Control
Most birth control methods are available to our patients: birth control pills, Depo Provera injections (the shot), the patch, the nuva-ring, both male and female condoms, IUDs (Paraguard and Mirena), diaphragms, and spermicides.

We now have call-ahead service.

prescription will be ready when you arrive.

Emergency Contraception Pill 

Plan B (also called EC or the "morning after pill") is also available. It can prevent pregnancy if taken within 5 days of unprotected sex... better taken the first 24 hours after unprotected sex.
For men and women over 18, Plan B is available for purchase at many pharmacies. For women under 18, a prescription will be written and then it will be available.

Call your local pharmacy to make sure they stock Plan B. Walgreens, CVS, HEB, Walmart, ReCept usually stock Plan B
 
Free Pregnancy Test 
Our caring, qualified medical staff will be happy to provide you with a free pregnancy test. If your pregnancy test is positive, we will go over options with you and can refer you for adoption, prenatal care or abortion. No appointment necessary, but you must come in at least 1 hour before closing time (scroll down for our hours). Call 759-5750 for more information.
For proof of pregnancy and Medicaid applications you will need an appointment. 
 
Privacy
 

 All patients are seen confidentially regardless of age or marital status. Parental consent is not needed for medical services, including birth control and pregnancy testing.

At this clinic, all patients are charged a flat fee for services. Some insurance plans are accepted. If you have Medicaid and need an exam or birth control, you need to go back to the page for Planned Parenthood of Central Texas

Gardasil....... HPV Vaccination........ Cancer prevention. 
Gardasil is a vaccine that will provide protection against the diseases caused by HPV types 6, 11, 16 and 18. HPV types 16 and 18 are responsible for 70% of all cervical cancers, and HPV types 6 and 11 are reponsible for 90% of genital warts. The vaccine is FDA approved for women ages 9 to 26. Ideally, the vaccine should be administered before the onset of sexual activity, but young women who are sexually active should still be vaccinated.
 
The Human Papilloma Virus(HPV) is a virus that is passed by skin-to-skin contact. Often, persons who are infected with the virus have no symptoms. Even without symptoms the virus can be passed from one person to another. Approximately 20 million people in the United States are infected with HPV. There are more than 100 types of HPV. Some types of HPV cause genital warts, and some types cause cervical cancer.
 
The cost of the each injection is $150 each.  To be effective you need a series of 3 injections over a 6 month period. Some private insurance companies will cover this.
 
 Mid-Life / Menopausal Services
We offer testing and education for pre-, peri- and post- menopausal women as well as writing prescriptions for hormone replacement therapy (HRT). We offer sound information on hormonal and non-hormonal therapies for relieving discomfort associated with menopause and reducing the risks of osteoporosis

Pregnancy Testing – no appointment necessary
$10 (urine test results in 5 minutes)
$21 (blood serum test – results within the hour)
$38 Exam and Urine test for Proof of Pregnancy / Medicaid

Male Reproductive Services

Birth Control By Mail
For those patients from out of town or otherwise unable to get to the clinic, we offer birth control pills or the patch by mail. You must come in to the clinic for either an exam or for birth control without an exam and then the rest of your prescription can be mailed to you for 50 cents per pack shipping fee.
 
Emergency Contraception Pill
Emergency contraception (also called Plan B, EC or the "morning after pill") is also available. It can prevent pregnancy if taken within 5 days of unprotected sex.  It is now available to men and women over age 18 at most pharmacies.

Insurance We take private insurance at this clinic. Please call to verify that your insurance is accepted and then present your card when you check in.

Abortion
Planned Parenthood of Waco provides Surgical Abortion up to 15.6 weeks from the first day of the last menstrual period.
